Frequently Asked Questions
What types of animals do you treat?
We offer care for a wide variety of species, including dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, small mammals, exotic pets, horses, livestock (goats, sheep, pigs, llamas, alpacas, cattle), and even bees. Dr. Sheffield and the team are proud to provide knowledgeable, compassionate care for animals large and small.
Do you offer after-hours emergency care?
Yes. Wimberley Veterinary Clinic provides after-hours triage by phone. If you call the clinic after regular hours, a veterinarian will assess the situation and determine the appropriate next steps. For large animal emergencies, our doctors can often provide farm-call visits. For small animals requiring overnight care or hospitalization, we typically refer clients to local emergency facilities such as Central Texas Veterinary Specialty & Emergency Hospital or trusted contacts in New Braunfels.
Do you offer mobile or farm-call veterinary services?
Yes. We offer mobile veterinary services for equine and livestock patients, including herd health visits, routine exams, and emergency care. Our mobile capabilities help ensure continuity of care without the stress of transport.
How can I book an appointment?
We use PetDesk for online scheduling, allowing clients to book directly through our website. For specialized services or house calls, please contact the clinic by phone.
How do I request a house call?
House calls are available for all species we treat, but must be scheduled directly by phone. If you’re requesting a house call, please call our office rather than using the online appointment form.
